The Archduke’s Been Shot…

The day before yesterday a man shot to death the Russian Ambassador to Turkey. The shooter then yelled out, “Remember Aleppo!” Shortly there after he too would die in a hail of bullets. I wonder if this incident will be the spark that sends our planet into a Third World War?

When that long forgotten man gunned down Mr. And Mrs. Ferdinand on that 1914 day, no one thought that 10,000,000 men would subsequently die over it. I must admit, I’m lacking on the details of why the guy opened fire on that car but it must have been important enough for him to do it and later be executed for his actions.

Will the man who yelled out, “Remember Aleppo” be remembered as the spark that lit the match that lit the fuse that caused the 50,000,000 sticks of dynamite to go off? I doubt it. The 24/7 news cycle has already left his name in the dust. The dire situation in Aleppo Syria has become boring for our news outlets. I mean how many times can they show bombed out buildings, dead in the streets and children crying?

This sounds terrible but I’m writing it anyway, “Your terrorist is my freedom fighter.” I don’t condone that man’s actions but Russia has helped in the slaughter of thousands in Aleppo Syria and they must be held accountable. No one wants a war to happen over this and neither do I. The names and some of the countries have changed but it’s still the same old game… This too will pass

  1. After a gunman killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, WW One began. Most historians accredit WW I with the beginnings of WW 2. In 1918, the “War Guilt Clause” of the Treaty of Versailles held Germany and Austria-Hungary responsible for the entire conflict and imposed on them crippling financial sanctions, territorial dismemberment and isolation. Hitler won broad public support, attracted large donations and developed a reputation as a potent orator. He found a willing audience for his views that the Jews were to blame for Germany’s political instability and economic woes.

George Santayana is quoted as saying: ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ If our country rising to become a fascist dictatorship? I don’t know, but all is in place right now for the seeds have been sown by Trump and the GOP.

    • I know… You are right on the mark… They also were blamed for conceding to the allies. Fascism is on the rise. Out with worrying about if your neighbor is hungry. He should have put his money in mutual funds or in a 401… Pick yourself up by your bootstraps

  2. It will pass, however I worry about the after effects, as you mentioned. These things always seems to spawn another wave of attacks. Some one has to have revenge for what every happened. SO revenge becomes more violence and then some more violence. Be well. Shoot me an email some time, I am spending today getting my in box cleaned out. Hugs

  3. I can’t even imagine not having a war…civil, or otherwise. I think that’s his only real plan. This truly is a repeat of the past , which just goes to show that we learn ABSOLUTELY nothing from the horrific things we KEEP doing.
